Marie Curie Fellow: Chemical synthesis and characterisation of bio-functionalised noble metal nanoparticles (Linkopings Universet, Sweden)

Marie Curie EST position - Sensing Forum (Chemical synthesis and characterisation of bio-functionalised noble metal nanoparticles for medical diagnostics and drug screening) Marie Curie EST Sensing Forum position.

6-12 months early-stage research training at the division of Chemistry and Molecular Physics at Link?gs universitet, Sweden. The Marie Curie action within EU:s FP6 wants to stimulate the mobility of researchers, which implies that only non-Swedish citizens (who has not been staying in Sweden more than maximum 12 months during the latest three years) can apply for this announced position.

The EST programme focuses on early stage researchers that are within their first four years of research training. More on the rules for Marie Curie EST can be found at http://europa.eu.int/comm/research/fp6/mariecurie-actions/action/stage_en.html.

The research within the Marie Curie EST Sensing Forum at Link?gs universitet, Sweden, stimulates a multidisciplinary approach to scientific questions within the sensing science area covering biology, chemistry, engineering, medicine and physics. Good knowledge in English, oral and written, is necessary. The position within the division of Chemistry at Link?gs universitet is described as follows: The proposed research and methodological developments will require 6-12 months of studies.

The aim of the chemical part of the project is to develop methods for noble metal nanoparticle synthesis, e.g. of gold and silver, of various shapes and sizes. The syntheses will be performed both by wet chemistry and electrochemistry. Prepared materials will be functionalised with various bio-active molecules and characterised with different methods including spectroscopic techniques, diffraction based techniques and others. The project is pronounced interdisciplinary and implies the ability of co-operation with researchers in other fields.

Questions on the research project should be addressed to Ass Prof Per-Olof K?, pokje@ifm
