PhD position in cell cycle control (Deutsches Krebsforschungszentrum, Heidelberg)

Applications are invited for a PhD fellowship in a Marie Curie Excellence Team lead by Dr. Gislene Pereira at the German Cancer Research Centre (DKFZ) in Heidelberg. Our specific aims are to understand the regulation of mitotic exit and cytokinesis. Any defect in these processes lead to inaccurate segregation of the genetic material, a common phenotype seeing in several tumour cell types.

The project involves the analysis of molecular mechanisms regulating cytokinesis in yeast cells. Proteomics, genomics and advanced microscopy approaches will be employed to investigate the function of components associated with the yeast centrosome that have a role in cytokinesis control.

The successful applicant should hold a Diploma/Master degree in biological sciences or related areas and have an excellent background in molecular/cellular biology and biochemistry.
