Post-doctoral position in Nanophotonics and optical materials

ICFO is currently offering a post-doctoral position to a well-qualified, highly motivated and dynamic young scientist who wishes to enhance his/her scientific career in the field of nano-photonics and nonlinear optics in a friendly and stimulating environment. The successful candidate will be part of the research group led by Prof. Jordi Martorell.

The candidate will be involved in the research activities (current and emerging) which include coherent nonlinear interaction in random media, nonlinear dipole-plasmon interaction, enhanced nonlinear interaction in micro and nano structured materials, and novel solar cell technologies based on a photonic crystal structure design. The position also will involve supervision of the research conducted by Ph.D. students of the group.

The candidate should possess hands-on experience in fabrication or study of optical properties of photonics materials. Preference will be given to any candidate with experience in one or more of the following fields: synthesis of photonic materials (such as for instance, quantum dots, nanoparticles, photonic crystals, photonic glasses, random materials, nonlinear crystals, etc…), experimental optics including sensitive nonlinear optical measurements, high peak power time-resolved laser spectroscopy, and micro resonator optics. Experience with computer based technologies is also highly desirable.

Eligibility
Candidates must hold an internationally-recognized PhD-equivalent degree (or evidence of its completion in the nearest future) in Physical Chemistry, Chemistry, Physics or Engineering in an area related to optics and photonics.
No restrictions of citizenship apply to the ICFO post-doctoral contracts.

Conditions
The contract is offered for periods of one or two years, renewable for a total of five years.
The intended starting date for the post is February 1st, 2007.

Applications should be submitted by e-mail to: icfojobs@icfo.es (mailing label: NOM)

Deadlines
Evaluations will begin by December 15th and continue until suitable candidates are identified.
