The 6th Media Law Advocates Training Programme, 1 - 14 July 2007 Applications are invited for this intensive 2 week training programme in human rights and media law with a focus on litigation and advocacy skills, which is run by the PCMLP in collaboration with the Open Society Justice Initiative and other organisations.
The course is designed for lawyers (or media advocates) from any country who are interested in deepening their understanding of the various regional and international human rights systems, focusing on the protection and promotion of the exercise of the rights to freedom of expression and information .
The aim of this programme is to add value and to capacitate those who are trying to handle such issues day-to-day and whose work could benefit from additional skills and knowledge. Applicants should have a strong commitment to human rights, especially to media freedom, a law degree, and eligibility for legal practice in his/her country.

The 3rd Annenberg/Oxford Summer Institute in Global Media Policy, 24 June – 7 July 2007
Organised by the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Pennsylvania in conjunction with PCMLP, the annual Institute brings together young scholars and regulators from around the world to discuss important recent trends in technology and its influence on information policy. The sessions deal with recent problems in satellite delivery of information, emerging issues in the structuring
of the mobile industry and its delivery of video.
The objective of the program is to help prepare motivate, encourage and support students and practitioners who aspire to pursue a career in communications media, may it be in academia, business or in policy-related fields. Applications are welcomed from students and practitioners working in communications, media, law, policy, regulation, and technology.

Masters in Public Policy, Central European University
Designed for those embarking on an international career in media policy work or those already embedded in a policy-making community, the Central European University (CEU) offers a one-year Master's in Public Policy program:
Three streams of specialization are offered:

- International Public Policy Stream ( http://www.ceu. hu/dpp/degree/ ipp.htm )
- Media, Information and Telecommunications Policy Stream ( http://www.ceu. hu/dpp/degree/ mit.htm )
The curriculum connects critical thinking with problem-solving dynamics and policy practice. The curriculum combines an analysis of the economic, ethical, legal and political dimensions of policy-making with case studies that give students opportunities to pursue specific interests in more depth. The second part of the program is devoted to practical research and experience. All students are expected to complete a dissertation. The final stage of the course is an internship at an international organization, government department or similarly relevant body. The aim is to provide students with the chance to experience the policy process at first hand.
CEU, located in Budapest , Europe, is a US-style graduate university, accredited both in the United States and in Hungary . The language of instruction and communication is English.
All complete application materials should be submitted so that they are received no later than March 2, 2007 for consideration for a scholarship. The final application deadline is June 1, 2007.
