The PhD student will use process integration methods and tools to identify options for improving the energy efficiency of process plants for production of synthetic natural gas (also called bio-methane) from gasified biomass. The work will proceed in close collaboration with Göteborg Energi and other research groups active in the field of biomass gasification. The position is open within the Division of Heat and Power Technology.

Applicant requirements
Applicants should hold a M.Sc. degree (civ.ing.) in an engineering discipline such as Mechanical, Energy or Chemical Engineering awarded by an internationally recognised university-level institution - or documented equivalent thereof. Applicants should have good analytical skills and good ability to work independently. Previous professional experience within the research field will be considered as an additional qualification. Particular interest will be paid to applicants with experience with process simulation software.
Since the majority of the group's teaching activities are conducted in English, applicants are expected to have an excellent working knowledge of both written and spoken English.
Details about employment
PhD student positions are limited to five years and will then normally include 20% departmental work, mostly teaching duties. Salary for the position is as specified in Chalmers' general agreement for PhD student positions.
