Full-time Research Studentship University of Kent at Brussels
The University of Kent at Brussels invites applications for a full time doctoral research studentship commencing in September 2007.
Funding will be available for one year in the first instance, extended to a maximum of three years as a registered student of the University of Kent, based on satisfactory academic progress. The successful applicant will be registered at the University of Kent initially for a full time MPhil, and will be expected to transfer/upgrade to the PhD within the first 18 months of registration. Candidates will receive a maintenance grant of €9,000 per annum and tuition fees (€13,100 in 2007/08). The scholarship holder will normally be expected to teach a maximum of 6 hours per week in term time, at the direction of the Dean. The scholarship holder will be subject to an annual review of progress and performance in both research and teaching.
Applicants should normally have obtained, or be about to obtain a relevant Master's degree with merit or distinction. They should also have received prior acceptance on to the MPhil/PhD programme; the criteria for which are personal academic excellence, an interesting research project and the ability to contribute to the research culture at BSIS. We particularly welcome research proposals in European Public Policy, International Relations, International Conflict Analysis, International Political Economy and Political Strategy and Communication.
In addition to making an application to study for an MPhil/PhD, applicants are expected to submit a research proposal, CV and covering letter stating their interest in this studentship with their application. Applicants should also ensure that two academic references are submitted by the closing date for applications.
