2007 IMESS: International Masters in Economy, State and Society

The International Masters in Economy, State and Society (IMESS) with reference to Central and Eastern Europe is a new postgraduate programme offered by a consortium of leading European universities.

IMESS is a discipline-based, language-oriented area studies programme, incorporating advanced research training in the methodologies and approaches of economics, business, politics, international relations, sociology, history and cultural studies. It is a full-time, two-year integrated study programme, with the first year spent at the School of Slavonic and East European Studies, University College London, and the second at one of the partner universities in Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, Hungary and Poland.

In addition to a full two-year integrated Masters programme the IMESS consortium offers a number of three-month Research Fellowships enabling International Scholars to spend a period at one of the consortium members conducting research in the spirit of IMESS.

IMESS will create a pool of expertise for conducting advanced research for public or private sector organisations and is thus set to become the programme of choice for international scholars with an interest in the wider European region.
