Applications are invited for Graduate Teaching Assistantships at the University of Salford, based in one of its nine Research Institutes. There are 16 scholarships available, starting in October 2008.
Graduate Teaching Assistantships offer students the opportunity to study for a PhD while undertaking teaching duties in areas usually related to their PhD research.
Successful candidates will work under the direction of an academic staff member on a range of teaching activities, up to 180 hours over the academic year (based on an average of six hours each week).
The scholarships are worth £12,940 per year (2008-9 levels) over three years and are available to UK/EU students and, in some disciplines, international students.
At Salford, we have an enviable reputation for carrying out excellent research and being responsive to the needs of business and the community. We are a research-driven university, using innovation, inspiration and creativity to find solutions to real-world problems. The rigour, relevance and internationally recognised standard of our work was reflected in the RAE 2001 results which ranked us in the top third of UK universities. Over half the staff submitted gained the highest possible ratings for research excellence (5, 5* and 6*).
The closing date for applications is 8 February 2008.
Successful candidates will be notified by 9 April 2008.
