Academic and Professional Programs

Boston University Summer Term offers one of the most extensive summer study programs in the United States. College students and professionals may choose from 70 subject offered in six- or twelve-week sessions - a selection of more than 600 courses and programs, many of which are uniquely designed for international students who are seeking an area of study not normally available to them.

Youth Programs

High school students can experience a college learning environment and get a head start on a future career through two summer programs:

High School Honors
The six-week High School Honors Program offers talented secondary school juniors an opportunity to spend the summer as a college student, taking two Boston University courses.

Summer Challenge
The two-week Summer Challenge Program encourages secondary school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors to pursue their interests at the college level by choosing two seminars in topics such as creative writing, business, law, science, and the visual arts.

Center for English Language and Orientation Programs (CELOP)

CELOP provides intensive English language instruction to international students and professionals in four-, six-, nine-, and twelve-week programs during the summer months.

Registration

Visiting international students are welcome to participate in Boston University Summer Term. Our open enrollment policy means that students do not need to be admitted to the University in order to register for Summer Term courses.

In general, international students may obtain a six-week visa by registering for two Summer-Term courses (8 credits), or a full summer visa by enrolling in three courses (12 credits)
