The Imaging in Stroke and Dementia programme at the Department of Neurology, Klinikum Großhadern, Ludwig-Maximilians- University, Munich invites applications for a full-time
PhD position / Post-doctoral Position in Magnetic Resonance Imaging
The focus of our research programme is on translational approaches to explore the neural correlates of cognitive and behavioural dysfunctions in vascular cognitive impairment. An ongoing longitudinal study involving more than 250 patients with a genetic variant of stroke and VCI grants access to a unique resource of multimodal MR
imaging data (FA-and MD maps from DTI, 3DT1, FLAIR etc. available) and comprehensive neuropsychological test results (see www.neurogenetik. de and publication record). We are increasingly interested in voxel-based- morphometry (VBM) and more advanced techniques to explore structure-function relationships.
There is direct access to several MR scanners operating at 1.5 to 3.0 Tesla. Research activities are embedded in a center of highly productive MR imaging research groups at Campus Großhadern.
Applicants should have a background in MRI analysis techniques (FSL, SPM, Matlab etc.), programming and statistics. Interest in clinical neuroscience and cognitive function would be appreciated. Applicants will have the opportunity to pursue their own projects. The position is funded for 3 years with an option to renew.
Salary will be based on qualifications with provision for bonuses. The position is available Fall 2008.
To apply please send a CV and the names of 2 referees to Prof. Martin Dichgans, e-mail: martin.dichgans@ med.uni-muenchen .de or phone: ++49-89-7095- 6670.

An overseas student could set the bursary against the normal annual overseas registration fees, which for 2008-9 are £9,500, thereby reducing the fees payable to £6,200.
If you wish to apply, please complete and submit, as soon as possible, an electronic PhD application form, which can be downloaded from the University's website. This will enable us to check that no necessary details are missing. Your application should also include a CV, as well as a 2-3,000 word research proposal and the names of two academic referees. To speed up the process, please ask your referees to send their references immediately by post or by email to Ms Margarita Seresht, (see below for address).
If you are not a native speaker of English, proof of English language competence
will be necessary, usually in the form of a TOEFL or IELTS test score. The minimum test scores are as follows:
- TOEFL: 610 (paper-based) or 253 (computer-based) or 101/102 (Internet-based)
- IELTS: 7.0 (minimum 7.0 in writing, and 6.0 in speaking, listening and reading)
Applications for the studentship should be sent to Ms Margarita Seresht. Please mark the envelope with the phrase 'PhD Bursary Application' .

Specialty Areas: Text/Corpus Linguistics

Required Language(s): French (fra)
Description:

Asigurarea calităţii traducerii specializate: feed-back-ul revizor - traducător-terminolog.

Dear all,
The Editorial Board of Studia Sociologia launches the invitation for submitting manuscripts for its June 2009 special issue: "Restructuring the Postsocialist City. Global Networks and Micro Actors".
The aim of this thematic issue is to gather empirical and theoretical works which investigate the intricate processes of rearticulation in the geography of marginalization or connection of postsocialist cities in the global networks of capitalism, "in and with the ruins" of their socialist past. in Central and Eastern Europe. We especially welcome manuscripts addressing problems related to the ways in which micro actor-networks restructure the urban space in the changing settings of global opportunities.
Studia Sociologie is the peer-reviewed journal of the Faculty of Sociology and Social Work, published bi-annually as part of the Studia Series of the "Babeº-Bolyai" University. The journal particularly welcomes academic papers grounded in empirical research or focused on the social realities of Central and Eastern Europe.

Residency at Bellagio Center of Rockefeller Foundation
The Institute Of International Education would like to notify you of an opportunity at the Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center in Italy. Please pass this information onto interested colleagues.
Program Description
For nearly fifty years, the Rockefeller Foundation has hosted scholars, creative artists, and practitioners at Bellagio for concentrated work on major projects. The Bellagio opportunity is not a grant, but rather a time to interact with a professional community while working toward tangible personal achievement.
The Bellagio Center is open to scholarly (i.e. humanities, social sciences, academic disciplines) and practitioner (i.e. policy makers, non profit leaders, and public advocates) participants. It currently extends this opportunity to creative artists (composers, novelists, playwrights, poets, video/filmmakers, and visual artists) for a stay of one month of uninterrupted work away from usual personal and professional demands.
The Bellagio center also offers participants a chance to interact with a diverse and talented group of intellectuals through special dinners and gatherings.
Flexible schedules are available for practitioners working at non-profit or NGO organizations.

Post-Doc Position: Center for Tropical Marine Ecology
The Center for Tropical Marine Ecology (ZMT), an associate member of the Leibniz Society, addresses ecological and socio-economic issues related to the sustainable use of tropical coastal ecosystems such as mangroves, coral reefs and sea grass beds. Research and teaching at the Center are devoted to the structure and functions of these ecosystems, their resources and their vulnerability to human interventions and natural changes. The research is conducted within interdisciplinary partnership projects with institutions and universities in the tropics.
The social-ecological systems (SES) analysis group at the ZMT investigates human-nature relations. Participatory approaches to the generation of social-ecological system understanding and to the identification of ways to steer coastal change into more desirable directions are major foci. The SES group operates a research programme
in three coastal regions of Indonesia (SPICE Cluster 6). We are now looking for a social or natural scientist with a strong interdisciplinary research orientation. The post is embedded in the two key research themes of SPICE Cluster 6 (Social-ecological systems analysis and Governance). The research under this post should provide new insights on the potentials of alternative livelihood options (e.g. marine polyculture) as socially, economically and ecologically sustainable income sources for Indonesian coastal communities. A focus on innovations is encouraged. The field focus of this post is in the Spermonde Coral Archipelago but the research should provide results of wider relevance.
The position is at the level of E13 and initially funded from 1.10 2008 until 30.8 2010. Further work is envisaged. The ZMT is interested in increasing the number of women in the field of science and encourages qualified women to apply. Given similar levels of qualification, physically handicapped applicants will be given preference. Interviews will be held in the period August 28 th until September 5th .
Please apply by e-mail (CV with current address and phone number, statement of interest, work proposal of 2-4 pages and names of two referees) by August 25th to zmtsekr@zmt- bremen.de.
Deadline: 25 August, 2008

Guide for Authors
Civilacademy Journal of Social Science accepts submissions for an open topics issue. We seek fresh, critical approaches in interdisciplinary fields, as well as studies that reflect new directions. Submission is open to the general public.
As a social science journal, Civilacademy Journal of Social Science includes especially essays on politics, international relations, management, economy, public administration, communication, anthropology, folklore, history, religion, sociology, literature, psychology, philosophy, media studies, women’s or gender studies, cultural studies, working-class studies, ethnic studies but the fields are not limited.
Civilacademy Journal of Social Science is a student-based publication sponsored by Fatih University . The Journal is published three times once in every four months by “Civilacademy Social Sciences Society”.
Articles are examined by referees before they are published. The editors of the journal together with the referees decide whether to publish a certain article or not.
The ideas belong to the authors and they do not reflect the opinions and the policy of Civilacademy Social Sciences Group.
1. Papers should be in both Turkish and English.
2. Papers that are submitted to Civilacademy Journal of Social Sciences for publication should not be under review at other journals.
3. The first page of the manuscript should contain:
a. the title
b. the name(s) and institutional affiliation( s) of the author(s)
c. the address, telephone and fax numbers (as well as the e-mail address) of the corresponding author.
d. an abstract; Turkish articles with English abstracts and English articles with Turkish abstracts.
4. Manuscripts should be double spaced, with wide margins, and typed on one side of the paper only. Equations and symbols should be typed as well.
5. Main headings should be typed in capitals and centered on the page; secondary headings should start flush at the left margin and be typed in small letters with major words capitalized. Lower level leads should be in the form of paragraph headings with only the initial word capitalized followed by a period and then the text on the same line. Dividing manuscripts into more than three levels of subheadings should be avoided.
6. Figures and tables should be numbered consecutively and printed on
separate sheets.
7. Notes should be used to cite references. Any notes to supplement discussion in the text should be numbered consecutively and placed at the end of the paper under the heading “Notes, References or Bibliography”.
8. References should be listed at the end of the main text in alphabetical order. They should be cross-referenced in the text. In the list of references please give all information in the language of reference. Reference to a publication should be made in the text by citing the name of the author and the year of publication.
a. When the name of the author is used in the text, only indicate the date in parentheses, e.g., “Crozier (1964)…”.
b. When the name of the author does not appear in the text, include in parentheses both the name of the author and the year of publication separated with comma. If more than one publication is cited, the authors’ names should appear in alphabetical order and be separated by semicolons, e.g., “…`(Mintzberg, 1983; Preffer and Slancık, 1978)…”.
c. When a publication has more than two authors, cite only the name of the first author, followed by “et al.,” e.g., “…(Christensen et al., 1985)…”.
d. In all cases, if page numbers are to be given, indicate them following the year of publication separated by a colon, e.g.., “…Thompson (1967:34)…”.

3) Makalelerin ilk sayfasında;
a) başlık,
b) yazar(lar)ın ve bağlı olunan kurum(lar)ın ad(lar)ı,
c) yazar(lar)ın adresi, telefon ve faks numaraları ve e-posta adresi,
d) bir özet (Türkçe çalışmalar İngilizce özetle, İngilizce çalışmalarsa Türkçe özetle)

b. Örnek: “…(Mintzberg, 1983; Preffer and Slancık, 1978)…”
d. Her durumda da eğer sayfa numaraları verilecekse, sayfa numaralarını yayının yayımlanma tarihinden sonra iki nokta üst üste koyup belirtiniz. Örnek: “…Thompson; 1967:34)…”
Referanslar aşağıda örnekleri verilen format şeklinde olmalıdır:
