Located in Ames - a community of 50,000 residents, 35 mintes from Des Moines - Iowa State is the nation`s oldest land-grant institution, with a long history of achievement in science and engineering. We are a Carnegie I "Doctoral Extensive University".

Exciting things are happening at the College. In the last year alone we launched several new interdisciplinary initiatives, including CyberInnovation Institute, dedicated to exploring the increasing interface between computers and humans who use them, as well as the Bioeconomy Institute, which seeks to develop alternative fuels in an economically and environmentally sustainable manner. The world`s leading virtual reality facilities, state-of-the- art labs, the latest computer technology, extensive libraries, and an internationally renowed faculty: you`ll find everything
you to need to succeed at Iowa State.

Financial Assistance
We have a number of teaching and research assistantships available every year. Master`s level graduate assistants normally receive a scholarship that, in effect, reduces tuition to half of the in-state rate. Doctoral level graduate assistants receive like scholarships that provide full tuition for qualified students. A limited number of fellowships that supplement the stipends given to teaching and research assistants are also granted to students with exceptional scholastic records.
