The Department
Politics was one of the four founding disciplines in the Faculty of Social Sciences at the University of Kent and has always been strong in staff and student numbers. The School currently has strengths in Politics, International Relations, European studies and International Conflict Analysis. The field of conflict analysis, as conceived at Kent, is broadly defined, although there is a greater emphasis than in many other Universities on the conceptual and epistemological aspects of the subject and on research methods. International Conflict Analysis is an important and distinctive part of the School's activities. The Conflict Analysis Research Centre, based in Canterbury and Brussels, is a focus for the collaboration of a number of members of staff in the School and the University, and for wider international collaborations. www.kent.ac.uk/politics/
