Requirements: Interested applicants must hold a PhD with distinction and have specialization in the area of data management, ideally with additional skills in distributed systems, programming language design, parallel programming, benchmarking, or system evaluation. Knowledge in Hadoop internals, the Map/Reduce programming model, as well as database implementation skills will be helpful. Moreover, applicants should have a good command of skills in mathematics, statistics, and data mining. The candidate should have good communication and scientific writing skills in English.
Responsibilities: The postdoctoral researcher will carry out independent research in Stratosphere context and drive the overall research agenda of the unit. He/She will also synchronize the various research threads among six Ph.D. students under the Stratosphere theme. The collaboration among five university professors and their groups will offer the opportunity for further academic qualification (German habilitation) in a unique, world-class research environment.
