FULBRIGHT: Opportunities for Teachers and Administrators

Hello!

If you haven't already heard, we have several new exchange opportunities for teachers and administrators:

1) Host a Jordanian School Principal from November 8-16, 2006

The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program is currently seeking district level administrators and/or school principals to host a Jordanian school principal during November 2006. U.S. hosting principals are asked to plan a schedule of activities for the visiting Jordanian principal, including work-shadowing of instructional and administrative activity in a main host school, district observational opportunities (such as PTA and school board meetings, administrative planning meetings, observing at neighboring schools, etc.).

U.S. hosting schools are also asked to plan several cultural outings in the host's local area. School or district-level hosts must be able to house the Jordanian administrator with an attentive host family. (Families without household pets will receive priority.) Host schools will receive a $400 stipend to cover the housing, food, and transportation needs of the visiting administrator and provide educational and cultural opportunities.

Deadline: August 25, 2006; schools that apply before June 30, 2006, will receive priority.

2) Teachers International Professional Development (TIPD) program

The Fulbright Teacher Exchange Program announces a program with the United Kingdom that allows groups of K-12 U.S. teachers/administrators to experience the excellent educational practices of the United Kingdom, as well as share their own high-quality educational practices with teachers/administrators from the United Kingdom. Opportunities are available for groups of school administrators/teaching staff to travel to the United Kingdom to observe best practices, as well as for U.S. schools
to host UK administrators/teaching staff.

The TIPD program creates networks of schools between the United Kingdom and the United States. These schools then work in partnership to examine models of good practice in a number of topic-fields. Priority will be given in this application round to schools and school districts that emphasize the need to learn about math and science education from the United Kingdom, or that wish to share best practices in math and science education by hosting a UK school or school district.

Applications are valid for three years on the TIPD program. Districts or schools that have previously applied do not need to notify the program to reactivate their application. This will happen automatically. Schools that have previously applied and wish to update the topic area of their application are encouraged to do so.

Deadline: August 15, 2006
