CfA: Expression of interest to host and to promote (PhD and PhD candidates) grant applicants for Austria: 20.7./ 1.09.2006)

The ZSI, Vienna based Centre for Social Innovation www.zsi.at wants to express its interest to host jointly with academical partners in Austria scholars from Southeastern Europe and the Western Balkans SEE / WB countries or from other countries working on topics relevant for SEE/WB and working in the below mentioned fields up to 4 months during the summer term 2007. Closing date for applications:
20.7.2006 (for our assistance) and 1.9.2006 (for submission).

To get our assistance, please send your CV and a 2-page outline of the research you plan - the research topic targeted has to be in line with the research you are working on at the moment e.g in your PhD thesis (maybe also finished). Please send us these documents by e-mail to aso-sofia@zsi.at, as soon as possible but latest till 20.7.2006 (for the Subject please indicate "Ernst Mach Scholarship"). You will get a notification if your topic attracts our interest.

Please note that the documents mentioned above that are needed to get our assistance as a host for your research stay in Austria are only part of the documents required for the scholarship application!!!

*network analysis as an instrument to evaluate EU Framework programmes in WB / SEE (e.g. Science & Society und IST)

*foresight in WB/SEE
*development of the knowledge based economy in WB/SEE
*partnership / local Governance structures in WB/SEE
*others in fields close to the mentioned topics

The pdf document has to be completed, but it consists of very different parts. On page 6 of the pdf document you see what is necessary for the application and which kind of documents you will have to prepare.

Scholarship: 940 € per month//1040€ for postdocs/month

What you can expect from us: Assistance for a statement of advisor/supervisory consent (the needed key document for the application) and to HOST you at our institution or at the academical partners institutions.

All the other documents requested for an Ernst Mach Grant have to be prepared by you personally (see page 6 of the pdf); These are: (4 pages (Application form 6 pages; 2 letters of recommendation (same text as for statement of advisor), description of the project (e.g. a part of your PhD work); certificates/degrees awarded; list of publications(NOT in the CV); proof of language knowledge; Attention: you have to get from your institution a document that you are a "registered or official PhD
candidate" or that you are working still at the institution after finishing the PhD. Submission: Depends on the country of orign (information: see below our signature)

(…maximum age: 35 years. Good knowledge and command of German/English, particularly in the respective subject area, is a prerequisite. For projects to be carried out in English a good knowledge of English in the respective subject area must be proved.
