Vacancy for a full-time doctoral researcher

Reflexive governance in the Public Interest (REFGOV). A thematic application in the field of data protection
The IES & LSTS will soon be recruiting a full-time doctoral researcher (“doctoraatsbeurs”) for a 20 months research project on the application of the hypothesis of reflexive governance in the field of data protection. This project is a part of the research by the Subnetwork on fundamental rights in the Integrated Project supported by the 6th Framework Program of the European Commission Reflexive governance in the Public Interest (REFGOV) (cf. http://refgov.cpdr.ucl.ac.be/ )
The researcher will undertake research aiming at testing the hypothesis of reflexive governance, already developped in the first phase of the REFGOV-project, in the field of data protection, along the lines drawn by the project description (seminar, final report). (S)he will participate into international conferences and to publish at least one article in a refereed journal. (S)he will also have to develop a Ph.D. project in a longer term perspective of 4 years.
Requirements:
Applicants shall have an MA in Law (or equivalent) with high study results. Further postgraduate specialisation in international and European law and/or a degree in human sciences (political sciences, sociology, …) are an asset. They should have a thorough knowledge of European and international human rights and data protection law, as well of the EU integration process (publications, experience, …). The applicants must commit themselves to develop and start up a Ph.D. project over 4 years. They must be fluent in English and in at least one other EU official language (preferably Dutch or French)..
