it has been recently published the call for the EURYI Awards - 4th edition.
This high-level Award is open to young researchers having between 2 and 8 years of experience after their PhD, willing to set up a 5-years research programme in one of the countries participating in the scheme (via one of their national research organisations) , see the call at: http://www.esf. org/generic/ 1879/4thCfP. pdf
This scheme is in fact the one put in place to nurture the future European Research Council Awards, which will be of a similar kind in their nature.
Since the first call of the ERC "Starting Independet Researcher Grant" will be in early 2007, it is of great interest to those concerned to take a closer look to the EURYI as well with a view to getting acquainted for ERC Starting Grants, and for us to spread the information around. It is important to understand that these awards will be for a few talented only, but the rationale - and the amount of the award(s) - is to build research groups around them (thus involving more young researchers) .
