CALL FOR PAPERS
University and government economists, business experts and researchers are invited to submit abstracts. Potential papers should address any of the following, or related topics:

• Theory and practice of economic integration

• Global trade liberalization vs. regional economic integration

• Competitiveness and challenges of the enlarged EU

• Business and government perspectives of EU enlargements

• Case studies on specifics of national economic policies related to economic integration;

• International business in changing global environment - theory and practices

• Regulatory environment of the EU; EU and national perspective

• Western Balkans; trade, cooperation and EU integration perspective

Interested parties are also invited to volunteer as reviewers, discussants and session chairs. In addition to sharing and discussing ideas, this International Conference is designed to strengthen the spirit of European economic and business cooperation and promote Croatia’s accession to the EU.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

1. Submissions of abstracts

Abstracts must be submitted to the Program Committee by October 31, 2006 in order to be included in the Conference Proceedings - Book of Abstracts - upon review. All submitted abstracts will be considered, but their acceptance is not guaranteed. Confirmation of acceptance, together with the invitation for the full paper preparation and presentation at the Conference will be sent after November 30, 2006.
Abstracts can be sent to the following e-mail addresses: euconf@efri. hr or kandzija@efri. hr.

Submissions of abstracts have to meet the following criteria:

• abstracts and papers are to be in English or French (presentations as well),

• no changes in titles, authors or order of authorship will be possible after submission,

• the title page must include names, affiliations, complete addresses (mail, e-mail, telephone, facsimile numbers) for all authors, and indicate who will serve as presenter; and state at the bottom of the page the area of interest,

• the second page should include the name(s) of author(s), title and abstract not less than 300 and not more than 500 words,

• abstracts should be written in letter quality type Times New Roman, font 12, once spaced, margins 2.5 cm on both sides.

2. Paper acceptance and instructions for the authors

Authors of accepted abstracts will be kindly asked to prepare final papers for a presentation at the Conference. Each presentation will be allowed to take between 10 to 20 minutes, depending on the number of accepted papers for each session. Authors of papers to be presented at the Conference are requested to strictly follow all technical instructions available from December 1, 2006 on the website:

3. Conference participation

All participants (selected presenters of the papers, discussants and sessions chairs) have to register and attend the Conference. The authors of the papers have to personally present their papers. Selected papers will not be included in the process of reviewing for publishing after the Conference unless at least one of the authors has registered for the Conference. Presentation of papers at this Conference does not preclude subsequent publication.

4. Proceedings

The Conference Proceedings will include Program of the Conference and the book of all abstracts of selected and presented papers. Authors are free to distribute as many copies of their papers as they wish during the Conference. After the Conference the selected papers will be published in a special publication upon review by the members of the Program Committee.

5. Deadlines

The submission deadline for the abstracts is October 31, 2006. The Program Committee will make selection of the papers to be presented at the Conference by November 30, 2006. Organisers will immediately notify authors of accepted abstracts. Authors are kindly requested to prepare the final texts of their Conference papers and give 3 paper copies and 3.5’’ diskette in MS Word format, to the organisers when registering for the Conference at their arrival. Eventual earlier receipts of the final texts of the papers are welcome on the following e-mail address: euconf@efri. hr or kandzija@efri. hr. Please note that this form is NOT A REPLACEMENT for paper form and a diskette form handed in at the registration.

6. Registration

Please be sure to complete the registration form and return it to indicated address. The registration fee is 200 EUR (120 EUR for students) in advance, per each author, or 250 EUR (150 EUR for students) on site. The registration fee includes organization of the Conference, reviewing, one copy of the Book of Abstracts, keynote dinner and refreshments during breaks. A study excursion is planned for Saturday, April 21st 2007 around the Kvarner islands. It is optional and not included in the registration fee.

Please submit your payment by check or banker’s draft in EUROs to Faculty of Economics Rijeka, payable on a Croatian bank.
