PostDoc Position in Self-Organized Polymer Systems (University of Bayreuth, Finland)

A Marie Curie RTN POLYAMPHI (Self-Organized Nanostructures of Amphiphilic Copolymers) postdoctoral position is immediately open for two years in the Laboratory of Optics and Molecular Materials at Helsinki University of Technology, Finland.

The research group of prof Olli Ikkala concentrates on functional materials based on hierarchical self-assembly (see e.g. Science 2002 295 2407). The group consists of both physicists and chemists and belongs to the Center of Excellence of the Academy of Finland and has substantial national and international collaboration. The successful applicant will be performing research on functional self-organized polymeric materials.

A PhD degree or equivalent in physics/chemistry/chemical engineering preferably trained in the field of nanostructured polymeric materials is required. Experience in SAXS, spectroscopic techniques, electron microscopy, and/or AFM techniques is highly appreciated. Helsinki University of Technology has 15 000 students and is the largest in its kind in Finland.

The laboratory of Optics and Molecular Materials offers state-of-the-art facilities and is conveniently located in the beautiful Otaniemi campus only 10 minutes from Helsinki City Centre.

The Helsinki metropolitan area is a lively, modern center with one million inhabitants with excellent amenities and good flight connections to Europe and Asia.
