Job: Institute for Democracy and Mediation Vacancies, Albania

CALL FOR APPLICATIONS

The Institute for Democracy and Mediation (IDM), a think tank policy institute based in Tirana (Albania) has been recently granted an institutional support grant by the Open Society Institute (OSI, Hungary), under its Think Tank Fund - Core and Institutional Support to Policy Centers. The OSI's support aims at enhancing policy making processes and reform progress through developing, promoting and advocating for sound and visionary policy options in key areas such as: local governance and
citizens' participation, security sector governance, EU integration and local ownership of reforms.

In the frames of this programme, IDM is pleased to announce a Call for Applications for two senior researchers with a minimum of two years experience in the following fields:
European integration affairs, with special focus on EU's Justice, Freedom and Security Area
Security sector governance issues
Governance and policy design

IDM will offer a renewable three-year contract that includes a competitive wage and benefits to the successful candidates.

Responsibilities:
Carry out research and write policy and academic papers on the target issues (see above);
Write project proposals, conduct fieldwork and write final reports on projects dealing with the above-mentioned issues;
Ad-hoc administrative and other duties as requested.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate must meet the following requirements:
A diploma from a Western university, preferably in one of the target fields covered by the institutional support grant. However, we encourage candidates that have completed their studies in other social sciences to apply as well;
A Master's degree is preferred, but it is not a must. However, the quality of work that is expected from the candidate will be quite high and a Master's degree would be quite helpful in this regard;
Experience with project proposals' writing and management is preferred but it is not a must. Successful candidates will be provided with adequate training on project management;
Excellent research and writing skills and excellent knowledge of English and Albanian. A good knowledge of another language is preferred.
