The Cornell graduate school promotes academic diversity by encouraging interdisciplinary study in its over 90 different fields of study. Although conferring fifteen different advanced research and professional degrees, Cornell graduate school programs are bound by a common philosophy of academic freedom and flexibility. Faculty, grouped by common academic interest, often have cross-disciplinary ties and are available for student mentorship opportunities.

Cornell University provides its wide range of international students with services administered through the International Student and Scholars Office and graduate school financial aid opportunities. University fellowships include tuition, a nine-month stipend, and Cornell student health insurance. Assistantships are also available and are awarded by departments or fields.

General Admission
Incoming graduate students/PhD candidates must satisfy the following requirements:
-A completed Application for Admission
-A non-refundable $70 application fee (fee can be waived given extreme
financial need, see http://www.gradscho ol.cornell. edu/index. php?p=5 for more
information)
-Received a baccalaureate degree or equivalent from a college or university of recognized standing.
-Statement of purpose
-Credentialed transcripts with English translation
-Two or three letters of recommendation
-Application for financial support
-Completed the GRE (based on field); Hotel Administration requires the GMAT
-TOEFL (550/213/77 minimum score)
-F1 Visa
