PhD Studentship in Microelectronics - Cranfield University

PhD Studentship
Integrated Functional Materials for System-in-a-Package Applications

A funded PhD is available for someone who is a creative, practically minded scientist or engineer wishing to explore what the possibilities are for integrating new functional materials into clever miniature devices, particularly for high frequency microwave applications. The position arises as the result of the Microsystems Activity at Cranfield gaining an EPSRC Flagship project titled "Integrated Functional Materials for System-in-a-Package Applications" The student will collaborate with other PhD students and be exposed to scientists
that are expert in microelectronic fabrication, analytical and numerical modelling, and device design. The student will be expected to demonstrate working devices and sensors and to gain a full understanding of their operation through measurement and mathematical modelling. Studies will be on the dimensional slope leading from
Microsytems to Nanotechnology.

Applications
Applicants should have, or expect to gain, a First or Second class UK Honours degree, or equivalent, in physics, physical chemistry, and electronics.
