Dear friends

The project (seminar) aims to put the young into the action in order to gain The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) in a local perspective. The project helps to increase communication, cooperation and dialog among the young generation by establishment a discussion environment and network of local young groups.

Osmangazi Local Agenda 21 Youth Council pertains to the development and implementation of local sustainable development action plans with a long-term perspective, based upon a consultative process and effective partnership of local
stakeholders. Osmangazi Local Agenda 21 Youth Council process entails the building of, and reaching a consensus on, a “sustainable community” vision, encompassing long-term, mid-term and short-term goals, and the subsequent preparation of local action plans.

Osmangazi Local Agenda 21 Youth Council is defined in the text endorsed by the Local Agenda 21 National Youth Parliament as “an institution established on the basis of voluntarism that seeks, within the framework of the multi-partner and multi-actor
governance approach, the strengthening of horizontal relations between partners in local decisionmaking processes, the strengthening of democratic participation and structures, the enablement of the youth in sustainable development, and augmenting their active role in the management of cities and the improvement of living conditions”
