PhD STUDENTSHIP 1 + 3 - Promoting Gender Equality in Public Policy - The Gender Education Gap: Performance in School & College Qualifications (Ref: CBS10)

The aim of this project is to evaluate the nature and extent of the gender education gap in non-degree level qualifications and explore possible policy responses.

Applicants should have (or hope to gain) a 2:1 or first class Honours degree and/or a Masters degree in a related subject.

The studentship will begin September 2006 and will be for four years; one year Master of Research (Business & Management) plus 3 years PhD. Students complete the Master of Research during the first year of doctoral training, unless exempted by previous (equivalent) approved study. Progression to PhD follows on from a recommendation from the Master of Research Programme Board. A stipend of £13,500 per annum is payable during the first year of training and this will rise in subsequent years in line with research council rates.
