It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 2006 Renewable Resources and Biorefineries (RRB) Conference in York (UK) on 6th to 8th September 2006. The meeting will be held on the University of York campus and will build on the success of the inaugural conference held at Ghent University, Belgium in September 2005 (see: Ghent Conference)
The conference will feature presentations from key figures from academia, industry and government to stimulate lively debate and new thinking. Invited speakers will reflect the most serious challenges currently facing world industry and policy-makers in the renewable resources area.
The main themes of the conference are in the areas of European Policy and Socio-Economic issues, Biorefining, Green Chemistry, Renewable Feedstocks for Chemical Manufacture, Industrial Biotechnology, Biocatalysis, Bioprocessing, Carbohydrates, Oleochemicals, New Materials and Products from Sustainable Resources, Biofuels, Bioenergy and Investment.
This is a residential three-day conference with reserved conference accommodation (a 5 minutes walk from the conference venue) providing good value and the University of York campus has the luxury of ample parking. There is also ample hotel accommodation in the city of York.
We hope to be able to offer a limited number of Scholarships through the Green Chemistry Network to scientists from developing countries. See the awards page for further information.
A key component of this joint meeting will be plenty of opportunity for poster and exhibition viewing. In addition the conference will offer several opportunities for informal discussion and networking including:
A welcome beer tasting evening featuring locally-produced beer,
An optional gala conference dinner to be held in the National Railway Museum in the centre of York itself,
An extensive closing reception – the perfect way to end the conference.
We hope that you will come and join us for what promises to be an outstanding meeting of all the stakeholders in this field, and we look forward to seeing you in York.
Abstracts will be accepted until the deadline 31st JULY 2006.
To submit an abstract please read the guidelines below and use the online Abstract Submission Form.

Guidelines to Authors for Submission of Abstracts to RRB2
Contributing papers will be assessed on the basis of innovative ideas and scientific quality; authors should consider the conference themes and relevance to the work that they intend to present. It is essential that the data or information presented is novel as confirmatory studies may not reach the required standard for acceptance.
Abstracts will be scored by a panel of specialist expert referees and, if accepted, will be published as a permanent record in the conference programme. Incorrect wording or spelling commonly leads to difficulty in understanding or ambiguity in interpretation so we ask you to please check all spelling and grammar before submission. It is the authors’ responsibility to submit a correct abstract, errors cannot be corrected after submission.
Please follow the instructions on the on-line registration form carefully, the conference Organising Committee may reject or return to the author abstracts which are not in the correct format. Only abstracts submitted through the on-line system will be considered, the Organising Committee cannot accept abstracts submitted by post, fax or e-mail.
The Organising Committee will make the final decision as to the form in which accepted abstracts are presented (i.e. poster or oral presentation). At the end of the conference there will be an award for best poster displayed. Computer projection will be used for all oral presentations.
The deadline for submission of abstracts is now 31st JULY 2006
