The position (one-year employment contract with full social benefits) is available in the framework of the Marie Curie Research Training Network (RTN) “Nanomaterials for Application in Sensors, Catalysis and Emerging Technologies” (NASCENT). The network focusses on the development and manufacture of molecularly imprinted micro- and nanostructured polymers for selective applications in catalysis, analysis and sensors. The network comprises multidisciplinary academic participants involved in molecularly imprinted polymer research from different European countries complemented by three industrial partners. The network provides a unique training platform featuring broad expertise, multisectorial environments and international experience, which will enable young researchers to acquire a variety of skills, thus allowing them to become ‘European’ professionals with excellent career perspectives.
The successful applicant will join the group of Dr. Andrea Biffis at the University of Padova, Italy. The role of the group in the network is to prepare and characterise molecularly imprinted polymers made out of soluble crosslinked macromolecules (microgels). The resulting materials will be delivered to other network participants for the evaluation of their properties. Furthermore, studies on the binding capabilities of functional monomers for molecular imprinting applications will be carried out.
