Post-doctoral position - Chemical physics (National Centre for Scientific Research, France)

Preparation of molecular self-assembled monolayers showing memory effects.

Structural and electrical characterization

The employer is CNRS (french National Centre for Scientific Research, http://www.cnrs.fr) to work within Provence Materials and Microelectronics Laboratory (L2MP, UMR CNRS 6137, http://www.l2mp.fr) in Toulon, south-east of France.

This post-doctoral position in the field of molecular electronics is open as soon as possible for one year with a possible prolongation for one more year. It is funded by ANR (french National Research Agency, http://www.gip-anr.fr) for the “MEMO” project (development of a CMOS compatible molecular memory cell) which gathers five french laboratories from CNRS and CEA and an industrial partner in microelectronics. The applicant will develop self-assembled monolayers of specific molecules on various substrates and he/she will study their ability to act as unitary memory cells. This work will include molecular monolayers characterization using ellipsometry, contact angle measurements, Fourier Transform IR and UV-Visible spectroscopy, and scanning probe microscopy (AFM, STM at ambient conditions). Electrical measurements through contacts deposited on the molecular monolayers could also be performed.
