Training of Trainers and Facilitators 3^rd edition

A Training Course dedicated to starting trainers, facilitators and youth workers that are interested in carrying out participatory workshops.

This training is a partnership between Life Youth Foundation and Association for Consultancy and Training – ACT with the financial support of Council of Europe in the frame of All Different - All Equal Campaign.

Aims and objectives of the traing course

Upon successful completion of this course, delegates will be able to:
design and run a facilitated workshop;
manage the workshop process;
manage a workshop group and individuals in that group;
identify suitable techniques to use and assess their effectiveness.

Methodology and program elements

The training course will have two parts:

The first part ( 3 days) is a training course will give participants the opportunity to learn, experience, and reflect upon elements in designing, running, evaluating an facilitation workshop

The second part (5 days) is design as an open floor for the participants to design and to run workshops using what they have learn so far in a safe enviroment and to get feedback on their approach.

The programme of the course will include:

*Understand what facilitation is *

(Asses your facilitation skills, Roles and tasks of facilitator, Principles of facilitation, Competencies of the facilitator)

Design and develop workshops in order to meet the desiderd outcome

(Analize the learning enviroment and learning needs, identify the problem, create appropriate design to achive intended outcomes, choose the appropriate facilitation method)

Prepare the time and space to support group process

(Arrange physical space to support the pupose of the workshop, plan effective use of time, provide effective atmosphere for the sessions)

Evoke group creativity in order to reach the desiderd outcome

(Facilitate in order to responde to all the learning styles, encourage creative thinking, use approaches that best fit needs and abilities of the group, stimutate and tap the energy of the group)

Facilitation techniques and methods

(3 techniques - Technique 1:Prioritizing, Making Decisions and Taking Action, Technique 2: Generating and Sharing Information and Ideas, Technique 3: Engaging Participants and Reflecting on Group Process and 15 methods associated with each of the technique)

Understand group interaction and dynamics

(what are the phases of the Tgroup, how is the decision take in the group, the diamond of participatory decision making, how to integrate diverse perspectives)

*Highly Interactive *- 70 % of the training course time is dedicated to the practice phase that is done by the participants and followed by feedback from the participants and trainers

Practical - during the training course you will learn and test realistic tools and approches that will reflect your reality and your needs

*Theoretical background *– all the theoretical content that will be delivered during the training course has as a starting base the latest research on brain, facilitation and decision making

Trainers - Trainers involved in the team are certified trainers by the Council of Europe during the Training for Trainers

Efficient and Participative Methods – methods that you will learn and experiment during this training course are used successfully in companies, nonprofit organizations and public institutions for decision making, problem solving, team building, strategic planning and developing an action plan.

Working language

English will be the working language of the traing course. Any kind of interpretation will not be provided. Candidates must have sufficient understanding of the working languages in order to fully participate in the training course _without assistance from another person_.

Profile of the participants

Be committed to attend for the full duration of the course

Be aged between 18 and 30 years old

Competently able to work in English language

board and lodging are provided and paid by ACT Association
we will reimburse * 50% of the travel costs*
there is no participation fee

Procedure of application and selection

All candidates must apply using the application form. The application should be submitted the latest on *6^th of June 2006*.

Please notice that due to the large amount of applications that we are receiving at our training courses only selected candidates will be informed and they will get directly the documentation at *12^nd of June 2006*.

There will be also a waiting list that will contain all the names of the possible participants in case that somebody from the selected participants will cancel their participation.
