A three year PhD studentship is available from October 2006 to undertake a study on Enhanced nutrition communications- making the best of food labels. The aim of the work is to explore consumer's views and understanding of general issues in food labeling and specific issues around food and health in order to identify appropriate mechanisms for optimizing the comprehension of food labeling messages.
The FSA has funded the project which will be under the direction of Professor Annie S. Anderson in close collaboration with Dr Wendy Wrieden. The successful applicant would join a team of researchers working on health behaviour studies related to changing dietary intake, physical activity and the prevention of obesity.
The successful candidate will have a Masters degree or a first degree (Classes 1 or 2:1) which has ideally included two of the following areas: nutrition, psychology, health studies or health promotion. The studentships will be at the FSA agreed rate (maintenance stipend of £13,400 p.a. in 2006/7) to provide support over the three-year period and will cover tuition fees.
