PhD STUDENTSHIPS (2), Cell Biology Laboratory

PhD STUDENTSHIPS (2)

Cell Biology Laboratory
Department of Biochemistry
BioSciences Institute, UCC

Two PHD studentships are available on Science Foundation Ireland funded projects to explore the actions of a novel protein and the IGF-I signalling system in cell survival and cancer.

One project with address a new IGF-I-regulated protein called EVA that is essential for cell survival and regulation of cellular acidification. The other project is aimed at determining how a motif in the IGF-I Receptor acts to control IGF-I signalling responses in cancer cells.

The Cell Biology Laboratory is made up of an international group of 12-15 researchers who are recognized leaders in the study of IGF-I Receptor-activated signalling pathways and the characterization of new IGF-I-regulated genes using protein, molecular, and cell culture models. The research group is located in the BioSciences Institute at UCC and has much international collaboration.
