3 PhD and 2 Post-Doc positions on security of mobile systems

Job description

•One Postdoc and one PhD student “PhD security policy specification and verification for privacy of RFID applications” in the context of the PEARL http://www.pearl- project.org/ project, whose aim is to develop practical security controls for RFID-based systems, and a corresponding assessment methodology. The project is in collaboration with the TU Eindhoven, the TU Delft, the RU Nijmegen, and a number of industrial partners.

•One Postdoc and one PhD student “Security of mobile data in dynamic coalitions”, in the context of the POSEIDON project. http://www.esi. nl/poseidon/ (Only NATO citizens can apply for the POSEIDON positions). In this project trust management plays a key role in realizing a middleware where the security policies of various participants are dynamically mapped onto each other and are matched with the fine-grained clearance level of the data being exchanged. The project is in collaboration with Thales (Above Water Systems Division), the Embedded Systems Institute, Noldus, CTIT and five other Dutch Universities.

•One PhD student “PhD specification and enforcement of security policies for mobile devices”, in the context of the S-mobile project. http://dies. cs.utwente. nl/research/ #S-Mobile. The objective of S-Mobile is to create a framework and technological solutions for trusted deployment and execution of mobile applications in heterogeneous environments. The project is in collaboration with the Free University of Amsterdam, Philips and TNO.

Requirements

University Graduate
You have completed or are about to graduate in computer science. You like working in a team and have intellectual curiosity and knowledge of relevant topics. Your main responsibility will be to carry out research, but you will be given the opportunity to acquire some teaching experience.

IT Security is a top priority research area: currently 40 PhD students, PostDocs and academic staff research IT security from a technical, legal, regulatory and/or societal point of view. Unique in the Netherlands, CTIT possesses the knowledge to cover the entire spectrum of research areas, ranging from mathematics and electronics via computer science to social science and law.

Conditions of employment
Estimated maximum salary per month: eur 2000 - 2500

Maximum salary amount in Euro's a month 2740
Employment basis: Temporary for specified period
Duration of the contract: 4 years
Maximum hours per week: 38

We offer both our PhD students and PostDoc researchers the opportunity to broaden their knowledge by joining international exchange programs, by participating in national and international conferences and workshops, and by visiting other research institutes and universities worldwide. The monthly salary of a PhD student, in accordance with the Dutch universities collective labour agreement, ranges from EURO 1965 gross in the first year to EURO 2502 gross in the fourth year. The monthly salary of a PostDoc starts at EURO 2740 per year and is negotiable.
