Coating, barrier and adhesive solutions for the coming packaging - Norwegian University of Science and Technology

NTNU, Department of Chemical Engineering together with PFI and SINTEF are looking for two PhD students within the Sustain Barrier project. The recently started research project “Fiber based packaging materials: Development of innovative and sustainable barrier concepts (Sustain Barrier)” aims at establishing fundamental knowledge about the interactions between wood fibre structures and novel hybrid polymeric materials. The project is managed by PFI AS, carried out in close collaboration with leading research and industry partners and is financed by the Research Council of Norway, Dynea, Södra Cell, Peterson Linerboard, Elopak and Korsnäs Frövi. The PhD positions will constitute central parts of the project.

We are looking for a candidate who has completed the master degree or an equivalent education. Your preferred background is within chemistry. Specialisation in fields like surface chemistry and/or physical chemistry would be an advantage. We are also looking for candiates who has completed the master degree or an equivalent education. Your preferred background is within organic chemistry, surface chemistry, chemical process technology or fibre and paper technology.

Funding Notes
The PhD positions are remunerated according to salary code 1017, salary level 43-47 on the Norwegian state salary scale. This amounts to an annual gross salary of NOK 325600 to NOK 348900 of which 2 % is deducted for the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund. PhD candidates normally start at wage level 43.
