NURBS is a very common way of representing a surface in 3D. This project aims at developing robust and efficient methods for fitting a NURBS surface to scattered or regular data. At our institute FSCN, www.miun.se/fscn, we have several applications where such methods are applicable which may be included in the project. You will be included in a very expanding research institute, FSCN, mainly doing research on wood, pulp, and paper but also basic research in applied mathematics, physics and mechanics.
