23 Full-Time PhD Studentships in cross-disciplinary research (University of Cardiff, UK)

Cardiff University offers exciting opportunities for high calibre PhD students to work on inter-disciplinary projects in a leading, research intensive university. The University has 23 full-time doctoral (PhD) programmes available under its Richard Whipp Studentships Scheme.

Launched as a tribute to the late Professor Richard Whipp, the University’s former Pro Vice-Chancellor for Research, the awards provide a unique opportunity to work with leading UK researchers on inter- and multi-disciplinary research in academic schools across Cardiff University. Professor Whipp was one of the University’s most enthusiastic champions of research who had a particular interest in bringing together different areas of expertise. His career had a strong interdisciplinary focus and the studentships are intended to commemorate his life by providing opportunities for talented students from all social backgrounds to undertake interdisciplinary PhD studies at the University.

Project areas include (but are not restricted to): nanoscience (including nanomedicine), tissue engineering and repair, vision sciences, health sciences (including biomechanics, nursing, and medical genetics), computer simulation and visualisation techniques, knowledge transfer and economic development, language and literature, musicology, and late antiquity. A full list of the specific research projects available is shown below.

Cardiff University is committed to supporting inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary activities.
