PhD Fellowship - Theoretical Condensed Matter Physics, University of Oslo, Norway

The position is available for 4 years with 25% compulsory teaching duties.

The fellowship is within the area of low energy condensed matter physics, in particular the physics of strongly correlated electron systems and quantum magnetism. Strongly correlated electron systems and quantum magnets are poorly understood and often show rich and unexpected behaviors. They span a wide area from high-Tc superconductors to macroscopic devices utilizing quantum effects.

We seek a candidate with a background and interest in theoretical, computational or many-body condensed matter physics. The work will primarily be to develop insights into the behavior of strongly correlated magnetic systems. Depending on the interests and abilities of the successful candidate the methods used will be analytical and/or numerical.

The position is at the group of Theoretical physics which presently consists of 7 associate and full professors, 6 Ph.D stipendiates and postdocs and around 15 master students. The research activity in the group covers the range from high energy particle physics to low energy condensed matter and atomic physics.

Application deadline: May 27.
