Reporting Judicial Affairs
Transitions Online (www.tol.org) and the CEELI Institute (http://www.ceeliins titute.org) announce the launch of Reporting Judicial Affairs, a training project aimed at helping reporters from Bosnia-Herzegovinaa nd Serbia obtain the skills and knowledge necessary to cover judicial reform, as well as trials and legal affairs in their countries.
The year-long project includes distance learning and learning-by- doing components, day-long briefings in Sarajevoand Belgradein November 2008, and a three-day seminar in Praguein early 2009. All expenses, including travel, will be covered by the organizers.
Throughout this project, participants will broaden their knowledge of legal affairs in their countries and the region and will learn the principles of effective and balanced reporting of court cases. International and regional legal affairs correspondents, legal experts, and judicial officials will share their insights into legal reform in the Balkans and other countries in transition as well as best practices when it comes to court reporting.
Who can apply?
Professional journalists from Bosnia-Herzegovina and Serbiawith at least two to three years of experience and an expressed interest in covering legal reform within the context of their own countries are eligible to apply. The project's working language is English.
