Citizens of Europe e.V. and its Czech partner European Values are organizing the fifth OpenForum. This time we will meet in Prag (Czech Republic), September 19-21, 2008.
Our OpenFora are opportunities for interested citizens to exchange views and experience on topics that go beyond mere European-integratio nist matters. They are designed as weekend debates, in order to be open for people of all generations.
We are happy to invite you to this event which aims at welcoming citizens from different countries to debate on the topic: Values in Europe – Ideals and Realities.
The preservation of a "European way of life" based on values is in any case not certain today, as is its importance as such. With global responsibilities ever more increasing it might easily be that from the former economic club Europe develops into a political community active abroad but passive at home. Shouldn't we try to establish a community of European societies which welcomes clashes on personal convictions, just in order to create and recreate diversity?
By participating in the OpenForum You will: enjoy a controversial and lively debate on the importance of values in Europe and the limits of civic activism in respect to it; experiment with and appreciate mutual respect and recognition when initiating and participating in a transnational European debate; get to know local associations and initiatives; network and exchange experiences among a pool of exciting and likeinformed, but not essentially like-minded people.
