Postdoctoral Position - Mouse Models of Autism - Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, USA

We seek a postdoctoral fellow that is keenly interested in determining the genetic basis of autism.

The primary project is to conduct research in the laboratory of Alea Mills, using chromosome engineering to generate mouse models with specific deletions and duplications of genomic intervals that correspond to those affected in patients with autism, arising from genetic screens carried out by in the laboratory of M. Wigler (Sebat et al., 316:445-449, Science, 2007; Zhau et al., PNAS, 2007, 104: 12831-12836). The appropriate candidate will interface with others at CSHL, neuroscientists who are experienced at identifying abnormal physiological or behavioral phenotypes.

Candidates should be highly motivated for pursuing a career in neuro-developmental and cognitive disorders, and be able to flourish in a multifaceted collaborative program. Experience with mouse or other animal models, molecular and human genetics, and neurobiology are all assets.

This work is supported by the Simons Foundation.
