Miami University in Oxford, Ohio is now offering a multidisciplinary, interdepartmental program of study and research leading to a Master's and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Cell, Molecular and Structural Biology (CMSB). The CMSB program capitalizes on the interdisciplinary nature of the life sciences to provide students with educational experiences that reflect the intricate designs and complexity of living organisms. Research is at the center of both the MS and PhD degree programs. CMSB graduate students can choose to do their research in the laboratory of one of the more than 40 participating faculty.
CMSB students are eligible for *graduate assistantships* and will take courses in core areas of cell, molecular and structural biology.
The review of applications for this new program for Fall 2010 will begin on January 5, 2010. Acceptance into the program is determined by evaluation of transcripts, three letters of recommendation, the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores, and a letter outlining professional goals, research interests and a list of at least three
potential faculty advisors. In addition, proof of English language proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS) is also required of international students whose first language is not English or who have not earned their first university degree from an English-language institution.
