Robust Design Processes

A position exists for a PhD studentship to work on a project relating to Robust Design Processes. This project will investigate how a design process can be optimised. The project aim is to develop methods or models that can be used to maximise the chance of designing an adequate product whilst minimising the time / cost of the process.
The project will unite work in the Engineering Design Centre on design process modelling and multi-objective optimisation. A particular focus of the work will be to develop an understanding of the impact of the design process on the quality of the product. The studentship is for a period of three years commencing as soon as possible, subject to satisfactory progress and the regulations of the University of Cambridge. University regulations and other details can be found at www.admin.cam.ac.uk/offices/gradstud/.
The project is funded by EPSRC. A maintenance grant at standard rates, as well as payment of University and College fees, is available to the successful UK candidate.
