PhD Position at Siemens Corporate Technology, Munich, Germany

SIEMENS AG, Corporate Technology, Competence Centre Ceramics in Munich Germany, offers a PhD position in the research area of high performance ceramics. The vacancy is part of a BMBF-funded program in co-operation with several research institutes and industry partners that aims to develop ceramic and composite materials with tailored transport properties.

During the PhD work a first principle based molecular dynamics approach shall be followed to predict intrinsic thermal transport properties of oxide ceramic materials. The simulation results shall be used to identify potential candidate materials and composites for advanced energy conversion applications.

Requirements:

M.Sc., diploma or equivalent certification, preferentially in physics or chemistry
Background in materials science/engineering , solid state physics
Good backbround in materials modeling and experience with several simulation methods
Good Scientific programming skills Ability for cooperation in an international, multidisciplinary team is an essential requirement.
