Job description
The candidate will play an active role in the research program that aims to fine-map genes involved in meat quality traits in pigs. The objective of your activity is to narrow down the chromosomal location of the genes affecting quality traits and to develop efficient molecular tool for screening the population.
Requirements
You have PhD degree and preferably postdoctoral experience outside The Netherlands in the field of molecular genetics. You must have good experiences with molecular as well as analytical tools for fine mapping. You view this position as an opportunity to further stimulate your development as a scientist. devoted, and independent researcher, excellent communication skills in spoken/written English and be motivated to travel. We are looking for a creative team-player who is able to motivate people.

Additional conditions of employment:
The position is part of the research program "Detection and utilisation of (non-)Mendelian genes in commercial pig populations" . This program which started in 2002 is funded by Technology Foundation STW and supported by two breeding organisations (IPG and Nutreco). The aim of this research program is to develop and validate methods for the detection and utilisation of quantitative trait loci (QTL) in commercial (i.e. segregating) pig populations. You will be working at the Animal Breeding and Genetics group. The group consists of 8 scientific staff, 7 technical assistants, 20 PhD students and 6 post docs. The group is responsible for research and teaching in the area of animal breeding and genetics (www.zod.wau. nl/abg). The group closely collaborates with scientists working around the world.
