The unifying element of strategy research is a focus on explaining and predicting interfirm-performance differentials. To answer this critical question, researchers draw on disciplines like economics and sociology. At Georgia Tech the study of strategic management is interdisciplinary and integrative (providing focus in the areas of technology and innovation management, entrepreneurship and international management).

Thus, it is not surprising that the position of a university professor is frequently ranked as one of the most desirable jobs in the world.
