PURPOSE

ISODARCO has organized residential courses on global security since 1966 primarily in Italy but also in China, Germany and Jordan with the generous support of private foundations and International and National Institutions and Organizations. The courses are intended for those who would like to play a more active and technically competent role in the field of international conflicts as well as those who already have a professional interest and experience in this field.

The courses are intensive, interactive and interdisciplinary in focus. The subject matters span not only the technical and scientific dimensions of these problems but also their sociological and political implications.

This will be the sixth time an ISODARCO course will examine the problem of non-state violence. Courses on this topic were organized in 1974 and 1978 when only a few specialists were concerned with the issues of non-state or sub-state violence. Now, after the dramatic events of the years 2001 and 2002, Isodarco has returned to the discussion of these problems devoting to them the last three winter courses.
