Fellowship Programme for Young Government Officials, 2010/2011

We are very happy to announce that the new Call for Applications for the Fellowship Programme for Young Government Officials, 2010/2011 has been launched:

We would extremely appreciate if you could forward the Call further to any contacts you might have, that would be eligible to apply, or that can perhaps also forward the information further.

The Fellowship Programme aims to contribute to the development of effective and efficient state administrations in the region by offering a tailor-made fellowship and training programme for highly qualified young professionals from central government institutions (including cantonal level government in Bosnia Herzegovina and regional level government of Vojvodina in Serbia) of the countries of the Western Balkans. Applications from candidates in political positions will NOT be accepted.

Up to 20 scholarships are made available for civil servants from the Western Balkans to spend a three-month fellowship in government institutions in Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, and this year for the first time – Hungary and Spain. In addition, fellows attend an Introductory Seminar in Berlin/Potsdam,
Intermediary Seminar in Brussels and Final Seminar each year at a different location in the Western Balkans.

The Programme is specifically designed for civil servantswho have several years of professional experience in public administration and have already assumed initial managerial responsibilities or are preparing for a position of leadership. Basic knowledge of the workings of the European Union is required and personal enthusiasm for the European idea is essential.

The new Call for Applications will be open from July 20 - September 20, 2010. The pre-selection will be done at the closing of the Call, and the selected candidates for an interview, will be informed by the end of September. Interviews will be conducted mid October in Belgrade and in Skopje. Candidates will be informed about the final selection by the beginning of November 2010.
The Programme lasts April – beginning of July, 2011.
