2006 European Travel Grants Program
The Moldovan Research and Development Association (MRDA) will provide awards of up to US$2,500 on a competitive basis to promising scientists and engineers from Moldova to facilitate their participation in international scientific events in Europe with U.S. co-organization and substantive participation, such as scientific conferences, symposia, and forums.
The goals of this activity are to provide Moldovan researchers in all areas of basic and applied sciences with the possibilities to:
Present research results obtained in Moldova to the international scientific community;
Find new contacts that will promote further collaboration with scientists working in Europe and the U.S., possibly leading to cooperation on collaborative programs carried out by organizations such as MRDA, CRDF, NATO, STCU and INTAS;
Find out about new research from outside of their traditional sphere of collaboration;
Promote the integration of Moldovan researchers with the international scientific community.
MRDA will provide participants with travel support, including transportation, per diem costs, visa fees and health insurance. Co-funding from a third party covering the conference registration fees must be demonstrated.
Eligible European countries where conferences may be attended include European Union nations, Switzerland, Norway, Iceland, Monaco, Andorra, Liechtenstein, Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey, Croatia, Macedonia, Bosnia-Herzegovina, and Serbia-Montenegro.
Proposal Submission Deadlines: The MRDA must receive applications to this program at least twelve weeks prior to the intended date of travel and in accordance with the timeline detailed below:

The MRDA plans to award up to 12 European travel grants. The grants will be awarded subject to the availability of funds. The Program Announcement (Application Forms) is available on MRDA web page: www.mrda.md .
