10 European Fellowships in Paris - for master of science graduate students

NanOtime is an Early Stage Training project funded by the European Commission. It aims to train Master of Science graduate scientists in a hot topic research field: "terahertz detection & terahertz imaging" (THz, from 500 GHz to 5000 GHz). This field involves multidisciplinary issues both in the research problematics (materials science, nanotechnologies, electromagnetism, electronics, imaging system integration) and in the application fields (astronomy, environment on both pollution and climate contexts, energy in the renewable sources areas, transportation, civil security, human disease diagnoses...).

The core of NanOtime is the high level engineering Institute Supélec, located in the South of Paris and which hosts the research laboratory LGEP. The young researchers will carry out the main part of their research training activities at LGEP on aspects relative to materials science, physics of complex oxides, nanotechnologies, detection experiments and thermal modelling.

NanOtime also involves interrelated groups mixing the academic and industrial expertises in various domains (electromagnetic modelling, characterization of antennas, electronic circuit design, THz tests of integrated imaging systems) :
- the Electromagnetics Research Division at Supélec;
- the SME SATIMO, located in the Supélec environment;
- the LISIF, at Pierre et Marie Curie University located in the centre of Paris;
- the LERMA-GEMO group, at Paris Observatory located in the centre of Paris.

NanOtime offers 4 PhD positions (36 months), 3 one-year long stay periods and 3 six-month long stay periods (click here). Individual training will be proposed to each fellow to plan his/her research and future career.

Scientific theoretical training (astrophysics, molecular biology, lasers) and complementary training (language courses, preparation for life in enterprises, seminars) as well as visits to industrial sites will be provided. Teaching activities in small classes at Supélec will be offered to motivated fellows.

Fellows will be recruited under an employment contract (about 1850 Euros of net salary per month + additionnal allowances).
