Action 5 Trainings Course on and in the Baltic Sea

Dear potential Partners,
We would like to present our project “All in one boat – an intercultural & interdisciplinary trainings course on the Baltic Sea ” to you. We are looking for partners who are interested in the Baltic Sea as a common space in Europe. If you are appealed by the upcoming presentation of our project you might be a part of it, soon. We are going to apply for an action 5 project of the European Youth Program on July 1st.

ABOUT US

We are geography students from the “Geowerkstatt e.V.” (www.geowerkstatt.com) a non-profit and non-governmental organisation in Leipzig (Germany). Our team is a subgroup which basicly deals with the EUROPEAN YOUTH PROGRAMME and topics concerning environment, politics and social fields. We try to promote integrated knowledge about space (this time the Baltic Sea) to young people and empower them to become active themselves in their community.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

In our opinion the Baltic Sea is not paid enough attention in general, especially by the neighbouring states. For that reason we chose the Baltic Sea as an object to arrange a seminar in November 2006 in Rostock/Germany. We want to impart knowledge about this common space in Europe in respect to its history, its trade and economical function, its environment problems and the resulting conflicts of use.
Corresponding to the current situation after the EU enlargement we will also discuss the European context that affects the region. The trainings course covers lectures, discussions, excursions/ field trips and the development of on hand tools to guarantee follow projects by the partners.

Therefore we plan to compose together media matarial (such as posters etc) of the gained knowledge as a result of this course. This can be used as a base to spread the gained knowledge. Furthermore we will have daily training sessions on “how to compose my own project” especially in the framework of the European Youth Programm.

This project will be a training course (action 5) for about 25 multiplicators from Sweden, Poland, Latvia and Germany.

After the training course we expect the participants to multiply their gained knowledge through their work and new projects with and for youth. Please see for further information the attached document
