Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant to work in the Chemical Research Laboratory, University of Oxford, under the supervision of Dr Michael Willis. The post is funded through the recent EPSRC/GlaxoSmithKline-sponsored initiative on Array Chemistry. The post is for up to one year.
The project involves developing new tandem catalytic processes suitable for the synthesis of a variety of heterocycle systems in array format. See Angew Chem. Int. Ed. 2005 44, 403, and Adv. Syn. Cat. 2006, 348, 851, for background studies. This collaborative project will involve spending some time at GlaxoSmithKlines research site in Stevenage.
Candidates will have a PhD in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, or will have submitted a thesis prior to taking up the appointment. A background in synthetic organic chemistry and a strong interest in catalysis and organometallic chemistry is essential. Experience and /or an interest in automated synthesis and purification would also be an advantage.
