CfA: International Network of Young Scientists dealing with Ethnic Reconciliation in the Western Balkans

Dear friends and colleagues,

I would like to inform you that young researchers participating in the FP6 funded MIRICO project (http://www.eurac. edu/mirico) recently initiated "International Network of Young Scientists dealing with Ethnic Reconciliation in the Western Balkans" (http://www.eurac. edu/Org/Minoriti es/MIRICO/ interethnic+ network.htm).

The main goal of the network is to expand contacts among researchers and academics form the Western Balkans countries interested in historical, political, social and legal aspects of recent ethnic conflicts in the region. The network should contribute to the creation of new links in the region and help to bridge a generational gap in existing networks that emerged as a consequence of the
break-up of inter-institutional cooperation among academic institutions in 1990s and which is only gradually being resumed now and builds primarily on pre-1990 contacts of older academics. Should we be able to assure funding, we are planning to convene a conference later this year under a title Ethnic Reconciliation in the Western Balkans: What Role for Academia.

I am also writing in order to ask for your help. Namely, within the MIRICO project we are trying to draft a bibliography list that should encompass works related to the Western Balkans ethnic conflicts in 1990s. Since I would like to include as many works of academics from the Western Balkans countries, as well as those from the other ones that are not exclusively in English language, I would be grateful to receive lists of your publications dealing with related issues in following weeks. The bibliography list will soon be available on the MIRICO web site.

Finally, I would be grateful if you could disseminate information about the network and the request to send inputs for MIRICO bibliography list also among your colleagues that are interested in relevant topics.

Kindest regards,
